How to Apply

Applying is simple. Here's everything you need to know.

Can I apply?

Answer three quick questions to find out.

1. Are you under 25?
2. Do you live in Croydon, or go to a school, college or other place of study in Croydon?
3. Would it be hard for you or your family to pay for it without help?

You can apply if you:

  • are under 25
  • live in Croydon, or go to a school, college or other place of study in Croydon (wherever you live)
  • are going through financial hardship and need help paying for something to do with your education

Meeting these doesn't mean you'll automatically get a grant. Every application is looked at individually, and the Trustees decide whether to give a grant and how much.

Someone can apply for you. A parent, carer, teacher or youth worker can get in touch on your behalf.

Schools and youth groups working with young people in Croydon (like Scouts and Guides) can apply too.

What can I apply for?

Grants are one-off and are for a specific cost. Recent grants have paid for school trips linked to students' courses, laptops, books and school uniform. We can also help with music lessons and instruments, travel, tools and equipment for education or training, sport and activities, and other educational or developmental opportunities. See everything we fund.

How to apply

  1. Step 1: Get ready

Have the price of what you need to hand, and the contact details of someone who can give you a reference, like a teacher or youth worker.

  2. Step 2: Fill in the online form

It takes about 10 minutes. You'll tell us:

    • what you need the money for
    • how much it costs
    • why you need help paying for it
  3. Step 3: Get your reference number

When you send the form you'll get a reference number. We may get in touch to ask for more details, such as a quote or a letter from your school or college.

What happens next

Our Trustees look at every application individually at their meetings. They decide whether to give a grant and how much, based on the charity's aims and how much money is available. The Clerk will let you know the answer after the Trustees have met.
